The Simpson's is the longest running animated show on television today. So, it's no suprise that the movie was as awesome and hilarious as the program. The movie starts out with Itchy and Scratchy on the moon, and Itchy ditches Scratchy there. Back on earth he becomes President along with Hilary Clinton. He finds out Scratchy is still alive and there are black and white shots of him "mulling" over the situation, much like JFK and the Cuban Missile Crisis. The first 10 minutes already had more jokes than a whole half-hour episode. The movie continues with Grandpa Simpson having a revelation in church, predicting a horrible outcome for Springfield. The family returns to normal, and Marge is the only one concerned about the ordeal. Soon Homer stumbles upon a pig, which he makes his pet. In the meanwhile, Bart is upset with his father, and realizes that he wants Homer to be more like their neighbor Flanders. Lisa is busy trying to help people clean up the polluted lake, which Homer decides to dump the pig waste in. The lake becomes so toxic that a government agency EPA decides to put a dome over it. The townspeople become furious with Homer and his family. They try to destroy them, but thanks to Maggie they find a way out of the dome and away from the conflict. The family is upset with Homer, and he tries to redeem himself by traveling to Alaska in a truck he won at a local fair. The Simpsons head to Alaska to start a new life. One night on the TV they see an ad with Tom Hanks saying that there is going to be a brand new canyon where Springfield once was. As the rest of the family wants to save them, Homer wishes to stay in Alaska and "never return to America again." The family leaves and Homer finds a tape left by Marge telling him they are over. It's even taped over their wedding video. Homer leaves heart-broken, only to find an Indian woman. She makes him realize that he must save Springfield to save himself. He returns to find his family has been captured by EPA and forced back in the dome. After a few defeated attempts, he decides to get rid of the bomb the same way he won the truck at the fair. He takes a motorcycle and drives around the dome with Bart holding the bomb. They realize that they are still father and son no matter what. Then Marge explicitly tells them to throw the bomb. They do, and Springfield is saved.
The Simpson's movie is one of the funnier movies I have ever seen, and by far the funniest animated movie. It's satire and humor combined with the lessons throughout the video really make it one-of-a-kind. Watch it, preferably tonight.
